Tonfon Internet Rates - Out
Tonfon's Internet Rates have just been released. So as soon as we get our new updated price from Sione Ketu'u and TCC we'll decide who gets cut and who stays on.
We've been testing with a number of other customers the Tonfon fixed wireless internet service and performance is significantly (>100%) better than TCC. Through put is much better than our existing TCC leased-line DSL connection.
Apart from that, Tonfon are matching TCC's price breaks, but with better bandwidth allocation (i.e. you get up to twice for the same cost.)
Prior to Tonfon's price release, TCC officials stated they will redress prices as soon as Tonfon releases pricing. If TCC can meet the price and bandwidth then we stay, which at this point is a big "IF" considering the service throughput is abysmal.
But that's what you have to put up with in a monopoly. Now there's competition (at least at the high end of the market.)
Prices begin for both services at TOP$500 a month (approximately USD$250 a month) but our experience has been much better on the Tonfon system than TCCs. Likewise, with a smaller set of subscribers, the Tonfon line is not going to be as congested. At the current price offered by both ISPs there is a limited number of potential subscribers (hoooray for us.)
